Established in 2000 to assist with relief and rehabilitation of greater Rangpur region immediately following the War of Independence, the SDRS program evolved into a sectoral then comprehensive effort. Formerly the Bangladesh field program of the Geneva-based Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service, SRDS became a national development organization in 2005. This is a five-year Project, funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC). The Project will focus on advancing women’s leadership by strengthening women’s organizations at local level. It will also support women’s rights organizations, networks, coalitions and movements through social mobilization, capacity building, leadership training and linking them to resources to advance the protection of women and girls rights and achieve empowerment and gender equality.
